Constant Contact Templates for Gretje Ferguson Photography

In recent months, we've written a lot about Gretje Ferguson and her photography business. She is a dedicated business owner, an amazing photographer and a great client. Recently, we've updated Gretje's email marketing templates to match the new website colors and improve readability. As a general rule of thumb, emails should be no longer than a standard browser page since most people don't scroll past the first page. So keep your business communication short and concise.

The template Gretje was using didn't match her website colors and offered a 2 column format that was divided 50/50 - a division that made one side too long and another too short. The header in the email was taking up too much prime real estate and the text on the left was so long that most of it was lost.

We started with a standard template from Constant Contact that had the correct structure for Gretje's promotional emails and changed the colors to match her website and her brand. Now, the content of the promotion fits well into the space allotted and the images of Gretje and her partner in this promotion, Lori Johnson, frame the text. The heading takes 50% less space raising the content.

Photo of the Month Email Template

Besides promotional emails, Gretje sends Photo of the Month emails to her subscribers. The template she has been using had lost its original layout: the header had grown too long and the colors of the template no longer matched Gretje's website.

We started with the same template as we used for the Promotional Email above, and rearranged the layout so that the Photo of the Month image was prominent in the email. The header is smaller, and the sidebar is mostly text, so the image takes center stage. There is also space on the bottom for a promotion, giving her recipients an opportunity to get their image featured in the Photo of the Month email.

Conclusion

Now, a recap. We've talked about making sure that all parts of your small business or non-profit communication match and reflect your brand. Let's check our work and make sure that Gretje's website matches our criteria.

On the left, we have Gretje's website, in the middle we have her promotional or special event emails and on the left, we have the Photo of the Month email - a non-promotional communication. All 3 parts have the same background, the same 2 primary colors and the same open feel.
